“I had a moment where I wrote a lot about the Trojan War. All those things in the ancient world are very fascinating to me, and I'm just giving myself a further cinematic experience of seeing those characters. I mean, that's one reason why we still teach those things from the ancient world. There is that echo of humanity in all of those characters . . .”
For this issue, we had the pleasure of interviewing Danielle Byington over Zoom about where the heart of her work comes from. We discuss mythology, the mind, the creative role, and the process of creating new things for the world. Danielle’s insight really got us thinking about why we do what we do and why artists continue to submit their hard work for our editors. We want to thank Danielle for her time and our submitters and readers. We had a fantastic time getting to speak with Danielle, and we hope you find her responses inspiring as well.
Byington is an educator, author, and artist from East Tennessee. Her poetry has been published by outlets such as Cold Mountain Review, Still: The Journal, and Dancing Girl Press published her chapbook, The Absurdity of Origins, in 2019.
